The WCM Women Composers of Michigan have two formal meetings a year. You may join us, member or not, for a time of socializing, inspiration , support, and performance or presentation of compositions old or new. Bring CD's or DVDs if you have them.
Dues are $25.00 a year payable before our September/October meeting. Our meetings are usually held in various strategically convenient places, depending on the location of our membership.
This year we sponsored the National Music Week concerts at Henry Ford Hospital, West Bloomfield, MI.
More information will be available soon.

MUSIC IN POETRY - A Poem by Lee Thume
There’s music in our words, the poems we write: There’s rhythm in our speech, the words we choose, The meters, the nuances that we use To get a point across---to say it right.
And spoken poems sing melodiously The joys, the myriad feelings they impart, The sweet song of “I love you,” from the heart, That resonates into infinity.
And often, viewing life through poets’ eyes, We find we see the whole more clearly, too, From different angles, learning what to do To make some would-be discords harmonize.
O, may the music in our words increase And flow like songs of harmony and peace.

SAY IT WITH MUSIC - A Poem by Lee Thume
Music speaks to everyone; it's a universal tongue! And people can relate to it whether old or whether young. It speaks to us in poetry, through instruments, and sung. But across all lands and cultures, music speaks to everyone. So Say it with Music; When your heart is filled with joy. Say it with Music. What better tool could you employ To express what's in your heart, its vital essence to impart? Say it with Music! Say it with Music! When you meet hardships, Or when there's sorrow to be born, When you're discouraged, Feel you can't face another morn, Let music find the words to choose for strength and courage you can use-Say it with Music; Say it with Music! In the history of our art, we have played a vital part In tearing down those stereotypes we used to know: When making music is the goal, what's required are skills and soul; And any prejudice or fear will have to go. Say it with Music; When your love must find a voice, Say it with Music; There can be no higher choice; This language we all understand, and it makes our souls expand So together we may stand, And say it with music; We'll say it with music.
