Bellissima! Handbell Ensemble to perform special concert, 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester, Mich.

Accomplished handbell choir of 13 talented musicians to perform for
“free will offering at the door” with a majestic one-hour performance

PONTIAC, Mich. –The first tuned handbells originated more than 300 years ago and have made beautiful music ever since. Now, an unusual opportunity occurs to see some of the Midwest’s most-talented handbell musicians perform in a one-hour concert

at  7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 West University Dr., Rochester, Mich.

Bellissima! Handbell Ensemble, affiliated with the Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiacand a member of Handbell Musicians of America, will tingle the senses and amaze the audience with an array of enchanting music. The ensemble performs on a 5-plus octave set of
Schulmerich Handbells and 4-plus octaves of Schulmerich Handchimes.

No admission fee is charged; however, proceeds from the “free will offering at the door” will go toward the purchase of new equipment, such as travel cases for the handbells, tables and music.

Bellissima! has performed for more than 30 years and is directed by Judy Phillipsof Waterford Mich.

“Handbell-choir music is such a beautiful and historic artform that should be heard and seen in person to fully appreciate,” said Phillips. “The joy we bring to those who hear the music is so heartwarming and special. We have a variety of well-known, lovely songs to perform  at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 30. It will be a fantastic evening.”

The concert is appropriate and will appeal to all ages, according to
Phillips.  “We adore performing to large audiences and we hope for a big turnout on Tuesday, April 30,” she said.
