Mary Siciliano
Lillian Scheirich

Mary Siciliano (NCTM) has a multi-faceted career. She was on the piano faculty at Oakland in Rochester, Michigan, where she taught applied piano, piano ensemble, chamber music, and coordinated the piano pedagogy program. She also taught piano pedagogy at Madonna University, Schoolcraft College, and the University of Michigan. She currently has a very active private studio, continues to give pedagogy workshops, masterclasses, and teaches at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. Her students have distinguished themselves in many local, state, and national competitions—among them the Music Teachers National Association National Finals, the Piano Arts International Competition, and the Michigan Music Teacher Association events.

Siciliano and violinist Velda Kelly cofounded “CHAMBER MUSIC WITH PIANO”. This summer workshop at Madonna University includes students from age 12 through adults. It is currently in its seventh year. Siciliano also coordinates the “Pleyel Piano Series” at the Scarab Club in Detroit, Michigan.

Siciliano is very active in piano teacher organizations. She has served on the boards of the Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League, Michigan Music Teachers Association, the East Central Division of MTNA, and the Tuesday Musicale of Detroit. She continues to coordinate the monthly programs for the Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League.

Mary Siciliano performs throughout the United States, Canada, and France. She has been broadcast on CBC, WRCJ, and several others. She has collaborated on several cd albums that include the first recordings of Richard Stöhr on Toccata Classics, as well as the chamber music of Jacques de la Presle, Pierre de Bréville, Ignatz Waghalter, Fernand de la Tombelle, and most recently Nicolas Bacri on the Centaur label.

Originally from Windsor, Lillian Scheirich began her music studies at the Detroit Community Music School as well as completing summer studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She was a scholarship recipient to the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, New York), studying violin with Gerardo Ribeiro and the late Catherine Tait, and piano with the late Emily Davis Vanderpool, completing degrees in both Violin Performance and Music Education.

Lillian has performed in various music festivals including the Blossom Music Festival (Ohio), Great Music West (Utah), North Bay Festival (Ontario), the Schoolcraft Piano Chamber Music Program (Michigan) for numerous years with the late Eugene Bossart (pianist), and two summers with the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival (Alaska) with WSO’s late Maestro Robert Franz.

Lillian has taught violin at Western University (London, Ontario) and currently at the University of Windsor, as well as maintaining a violin and piano studio in her home. She has adjudicated competitions across Canada and in Michigan as well as adjudicating the Orchestral Category of the JUNO Awards and the Orford String Quartet Award given by the Ontario Arts Council.

Lillian has recorded three chamber music CDs of the works of Waghalter, de la Presle and de la Tombelle, with pianist Mary Siciliano. The chamber music of Jacques de la Presle was performed on a tour of France in 2009 with Mary Siciliano (piano) and Nadine Deleury (cello).

This year marks nearly 40 years with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster since 1991. She was awarded the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Music (2001), and currently plays on a copy of a Pailliot Violin.

In the Fall of 2025, Lillian performed music of Canadian composer Jason Grossi at the University of Windsor, a recital of French music at Ohio Northern University with Mary Siciliano (piano). She will be performing the Boccherini Violin Concerto in March 2026 with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, and a chamber music program at the Scarab Club (Detroit) in May, also with Mary Sicilian
